²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ leavers are celebrating an excellent set of A level results, with a significant proportion securing the highest possible grades.

A standout group achieved a clean sweep of top marks, while over a quarter of all pupils secured straight A/A grades. When combined with our strong IB results, 60% of all grades at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ were at A-A and 87% at A*-B (or equivalent).

The Class of 2026 will go on to pursue higher education and career pathways at world-leading institutions in the UK, North America and Europe, alongside highly competitive degree apprenticeships with global engineering leaders.

Places have been secured at many of the UK’s best universities such as Oxford, Edinburgh, Durham, Imperial and LSE with global destinations such as Bocconi, Cornell and Sciences Po also featuring.

Pupils have also earned places on leading Degree Apprenticeships at Airbus and BAE Systems.

Commenting on this year’s results and leavers’ destinations, Eugene du Toit, Master of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, said:

“We are immensely proud of our Sixth Form pupils and delighted that their hard work has been rewarded. However, their achievements would not have been possible without inspiring teaching and the dedication of all those who offered guidance, encouragement, challenge and support.

We wish all of our leavers the very best of luck for their exciting next steps.â€

²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ pupils are celebrating an outstanding set of International Baccalaureate results this year, reflecting both their academic ability and the dedication they have shown throughout their studies.

The cohort has achieved an impressive average score of 38.1 points*. The global IB average has been 30 in recent years. Among these excellent outcomes, two pupils attained the maximum 45 points, four pupils achieved 44 points, and 28 pupils scored 40 points or more, a significant accomplishment in this highly regarded qualification.

These results are a testament not only to the pupils’ hard work and perseverance, but also to the support and guidance of their teachers and the wider school community. The IB programme demands intellectual curiosity, resilience and a global outlook, and our pupils have risen to that challenge with distinction.

We congratulate all of our IB pupils on their achievements and are immensely proud of everything they have accomplished.

It was a fantastic day for our VEX Robotics teams on Friday, with pupils competing at two regional events.

Our Metals teams headed to Stowe School, while two Plastics teams travelled to Colchester to take on strong opposition.

The two teams at Stowe dominated much of the day, remaining unbeaten through numerous rounds. Both progressed to the elimination stages with the Middles boys, Demitrios, Poyraz, James, Jasper, Seb and Freddy, delivering an exceptional performance to reach the final, narrowly losing to the top-ranked side. Their consistent progress suggests that it is only a matter of time before they secure their first tournament win.

Meanwhile in Colchester, the teams showcased their newly upgraded designs. Despite a few early challenges, the Removes team, Xander, Cariana, Grace and Tori, delivered an outstanding performance, remaining unbeaten to win the regional competition and qualify for the National Championships in March. A brilliant achievement and hopefully the first of many teams to reach this prestigious stage.

²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ is pleased to report another hugely encouraging set of results from this summer’s (I)GCSE exams. Nearly 50% of grades achieved by our pupils were awarded at 9/8/A* and just under 90% of grades were awarded at 9-6/A*-B. On an individual level, 21 pupils obtained straight 9/8/A* grades which is a phenomenal achievement by any standard. 75 pupils received at least five 9/8/A* grades and many other Haileyburians should be proud of their efforts.

Eugene du Toit, Master (Elect) commented, “We are delighted with this year’s excellent (I)GCSE results. Our pupils have achieved a very impressive set of grades and have good reason to feel proud of themselves. These pleasing outcomes would not be possible without the support of a dedicated team of teachers and I am immensely grateful to everyone at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ for all their work in enabling our pupils to be the best they can be.”

The 2024 A level results are the best in a normal (i.e. non-pandemic) examination series in ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s history. We are delighted to report that 51% of A level grades were awarded at A*/A and 82% of grades were awarded at A*- B. Nine pupils received three (or more) A* grades and 35 pupils (over 30% of the cohort) achieved three A grades or better.

The publication of the A level grades comes a few weeks after the publication of an equally outstanding set of IBDP grades. Indeed, when the A level and IBDP grades are combined, the 2024 Upper Sixth pupils achieved 63% A*/A grades (or the IBDP equivalent) and 89% A*- B grades (or the IBDP equivalent). These figures are also the strongest in a normal examination series in the School’s history.

The outgoing Master, Martin Collier, commented: “I warmly congratulate the 2024 Upper Sixth on an outstanding set of results. The pupils in the year group deserve their success: they are able, committed to their studies and ambitious. These exceptional results are also a reflection of the outstanding work of the pupils’ teachers as well as the dedication of the whole staff who supported the pupils so well throughout their time at the School.”

In the world of competitive swimming, victory is often measured in milliseconds, and triumph is reserved for those who push their limits beyond what seems possible. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Swimming has once again proven their mettle, showcasing unwavering determination and reigning victorious at the prestigious Bath & Otter Cup.

On March 1 2024, amidst the electrifying atmosphere of the London Olympic Aquatic Centre, our senior girls’ medley relay squad etched their names in the annals of swimming history. Maja, Alice, Ade and Laura, a tenacious and talented quartet, were crowned national champions.

Having secured their berth in the finals with unwavering resolve, our girls unleashed a display of sheer brilliance, propelled by cheers echoing poolside. In a heart-stopping final that left spectators on the edge of their seats, the girls notched a personal best time of 2.07.25 to not only clinch victory, but also secured them the national title for the second consecutive year.

The triumph at the Bath & Otter Cup is only one example of our School’s strong swimming programme. In the weeks leading up to this win, our swimmers showcased their drive at the Hertfordshire Schools Swimming League Finals, where Isla, Ade, Laura, and Alice emerged as county champions in backstroke, butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke respectively.

“Our swimmers have navigated this season with unwavering resolve. Through countless early morning training sessions and gruelling workouts, they have honed their technique and power, deservedly defending their crown.” – Mrs Kate Liddiard Head of Swimming

Beyond the medals and accolades, what we are most proud of is the camaraderie and support that defines the essence of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Swimming. From Lower School to Upper Sixth, our swimmers all share a passion and drive for excellence. Congratulations are extended to all of our swimmers who have exemplified dedication throughout the 2023/24 season.

²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ is delighted to announce outstanding (I)GCSE results for its 2023 cohort of pupils.

As has been widely reported in the media, nationally the standard of the 2023 (I)GCSEs has been reset to the 2019 standard. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s results are significantly better than those achieved in 2019 or, indeed, any other non-pandemic year, with 77.4% of grades awarded at 9/8/7/A*/A and just under 50% awarded at 9/8/A*. Twenty five pupils, which is nearly a fifth of the cohort, achieved straight 9/8/A* grades.

The Master, Martin Collier, commented: “This is a fantastic set of (I)GCSE results. Our Fifths pupils have worked really hard and they deserve their success. That these (I)GCSE results are, by some distance, the best in the School’s history (pandemic years aside) is testament to the extraordinary efforts of pupils and staff. I congratulate them all.”

The A level results which were issued today are the best in the School’s history of years when grades were awarded at the ‘normal’ (i.e. the non-pandemic years) standard. The combined A level/IBDP results are also the best achieved by our pupils when grades were awarded at the ‘normal’ standard with 86% of grades awarded at A* – B or the IBDP equivalent.

The Master, Martin Collier, commented: “Even though the ‘normal’ standard for the awarding of  A level and the IBDP grades has been re-established this year, the educational journey of the 2023 Upper Sixth was not normal. That the results are so positive is testament to our pupils’ determination to achieve to the best of their ability and the outstanding efforts of the staff to help them do so.â€

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results for the summer series 2023 were published today. The results of the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ pupils who sat the IBDP examinations are strong and reflect the efforts of a year group that has worked hard and with purpose. The results also reflect the high quality of teaching of the IBDP at the School over the course of the last two years.

The average ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ points score this year is currently just a fraction short of 39 with over 30% of our pupils scoring 40 points or higher. The average points score is comparable to that achieved by our pupils in 2022, which is impressive given that, as expected, there has been a significant downward adjustment this year in IBDP grades worldwide and in the UK.

The Master, Martin Collier, commented about the results: “That the IBDP grades are so strong is testament to the ability and diligence of an impressive Upper Sixth cohort. They most certainly deserve credit for their efforts. I would also like to thank the teaching staff who, through their outstanding work, have ensured that our pupils have achieved results which are comparable with those of last year.”

GCSE pupils at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ received their results this morning, and we are extremely proud of their outstanding performance.

There is much for our pupils to celebrate:

  • With over a third of all grades awarded at 9.

  • Nearly four out of every five grades a 7, 8 or 9.

  • Over half of our pupils got 5 or more grades 8 or 9.

Please view our full results here

For our GCSE pupils, a significant amount of their GCSE courses were taught online during the lockdowns of 2021 and, when they were in school, the pupils were taught in bubbles for the first part of their courses. That our pupils achieved such strong results despite these challenges is all the more cause for celebration.

The following pupils achieved exceptionally strong results across their GCSEs:

Martha, Junru, Ely, Josephine, Blu, Alexander, Serena, Isabella, Maya, Roman, Luna, Sophie, Herlene, Cecilia, Oliver, Bodhi.

I am extremely pleased with my GCSE results. I worked hard in the lead up to my exams with a clear timetable for revision, for which I would like to thank my teachers and tutors for their guidance. I am also very grateful for my family and peers for their love and support as I would not have been able to succeed without them. I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my life in sixth form at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ.”Martha

“I’m very happy with my results that i’ve received this morning. My results highlight the hard work that myself, the teachers and staff have put in over the past two years, and the support of my friends and family, who have helped me to achieve my grades today. I am now looking forward to starting my A-Levels in September.”Blu

“I am unbelievably happy with my results and I am so glad that all the hard work paid off in the end. I couldn’t have achieved my goals without my amazing teachers who were always helpful and the support I received from Albans.”°ä±ð³¦¾±±ô¾±²¹Ìý

“Naturally, in the lead up to the exams there was some anxiety given that exams hadn’t been sat in three years. However, I’m delighted to come out of it with these results and thankful for the experience it has given me.”Oliver

“The anticipation leading up to results day was so nerve wrecking but I’m so pleased with my performance. I would like to thank all my teachers, as well as Mrs Millo and Miss Hawkins for all their support.”Herlene

“I am over the moon with my set of GCSE results. I put in a lot of time leading up to my exams and I would do the same if I were to do it again. I wouldn’t, however, have been able to do it without the support from my friends, family, teachers and tutor throughout the 2 years prior. For everyone next doing exams, keep doing the things you enjoy and work hard! It is all worth it in the end.”´¡±ô±ð³æ²¹²Ô»å±ð°ùÌý

We would like to congratulate all of those who received their (i)GCSE results today.

Upper Sixth A level pupils at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ received their A level results this morning, and we are extremely proud of their exceptional performance. With over a third of all grades awarded at A* and nearly two-thirds awarded at A* or A, there is much to celebrate.

It is important to note that the departing Upper Sixth pupils did not sit GCSE examinations so for many, this was their first experience of sitting public examinations. Equally, a significant amount of their A level courses were taught online during the lockdowns of 2021. That our pupils achieved such strong results despite these challenges is all the more commendable, as is the fact that the vast majority of our pupils are progressing on to a university of their choice. We could not be more proud of the departing Upper Sixth pupils.

The following pupils achieved 3 A* grades or more in their A levels:

Dionisii

Jay

Isla

Martino

Haris

Reece

Harry

Daisy

Lillian

“I’m over the moon with my results this morning and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my teachers and friends in Alban’s. I never expected these results but I’m so happy that my hard work paid off and I can go to university knowing that I achieved everything I wanted to.â€Daisy

“Opening my results this morning was the most terrifying/nerve racking experience I have ever had! I am so over the moon with excitement and my results are a huge testament to the teachers at school who went above and beyond with help and guidance over the last 2 years and I am forever grateful for my amazing experience at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ and will miss it a lot.â€Isla

“I am ecstatic with my results and I would like to thank all my teachers, family and friends as without their support, none of this would be possible.â€Jay

“This year has been tough and I am proud of what I’ve managed to achieve. To quote Jack Sparrow, ‘Was everyone watching? Because I will not be doing that again.’â€Dylan

Best of luck to our departing Upper Sixth, the School wishes you well in your future endeavours and we look forward to seeing what you will go on to achieve.

²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ is extremely proud to share the notable achievements and efforts of all our International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme pupils. In spite of challenges presented by the pandemic, our learners went on to receive high scores for the 2021-22 academic year. Below, Stephen Campbell, Deputy Head (Academic) details Haileyburians’ impressive results.

Mr Stephen Campbell, Deputy Head (Academic)

Our IB pupils have worked exceptionally hard whilst studying for their Diploma and we are delighted that their efforts have been rewarded.

²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ pupils achieved an average score of over 38 points. This is more than eight points higher than the worldwide average of 30 points, and is equivalent to 5 A grades at A level. Given the context of the previous two years, we could not be more proud of their achievements.

Lilibet and Ariana achieved full marks in their Diploma, scoring an exceptional 45 points; this score places them in the top 1% of all pupils worldwide. Madeleine , Hadrien , Luca , Anastasia and Christina secured 44 points. 30% of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ pupils were awarded a prestigious Bilingual Diploma, demonstrating their dedication to expanding their language profiles.

This year was our biggest IB cohort yet, with more than 50% more pupils taking the IBDP at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ in 2022 than in previous years. These results are testament to the efforts of pupils and their teachers in a period of many challenges. They should justifiably be proud of their achievements and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future as they join universities in the UK, US, Italy, France and Germany, to name but a few.

The Master, Martin Collier, states that “This is an excellent set of results, especially given the context of the past two years. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) pupils have worked very hard indeed and they deserve their success. This was one of our largest IBDP cohorts ever; these results stand as testament to the fact that the IBDP is flourishing at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. Lastly, I would like to pay tribute to the teaching staff whose dedication and considerable expertise has made this impressive set of results possible.’

IB Co-ordinator, Abigail Mash, states that “It has been a pleasure to work with such a fantastic cohort and to see their hard work rewarded. Our pupils have shown determination over the course of the last two years and these impressive results are a fitting conclusion to their time at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ”.
